Habitat on the Hill

Each year in February nearly 250 advocates gathered in Washington, D.C. for Habitat for Humanity’s annual legislative and advocacy conference: Habitat on the Hill: Building Communities. Participants learned about building sustainable homes, federal programs that help support affordable housing, state and local advocacy and public and private partnerships. They also heard more about other topics that support Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. NRI is a program that aims to mobilize Habitat and its affiliated organizations to deliver an unprecedented level of support and partnership with communities seeking to enhance their long-term sustainability.
On Capitol Hill, advocates asked legislators for additional Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Programs and national service resources in an effort to take Neighborhood Revitalization to scale. They also asked that Congress set aside funding to support transitional and permanent shelter solutions in Haiti. FSU Habitat will be sending several representatives from our chapter to assist Habitat for Humanity International. If interested please contact:
